Job Summary:

The Legal Assistant in the firm’s Personal Injury department will be responsible for the administrative needs of the two attorneys and paralegals in the department. Support will consist of assisting with helping open and organize new client files, gathering documents and information related to the case from the clients and other sources, sending out form correspondence, ordering and following up on medical records requests, organizing files, managing incoming medical records and other file materials, and keeping the file organized.  The Legal Assistant must be detail oriented, organized, possess excellent written and verbal skills, and be able to work in a smaller department within a larger law firm. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Helping open and organize new client files.
  • Gathering documents and information related to the case from the clients and other sources.
  • Sending out form correspondence.
  • Ordering and following up on medical records requests.
  • Organizing files.
  • Managing incoming medical records and other file materials, and keeping the file organized.  

Required Skills and Abilities: 

  • General understanding of law office procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.  Experience with Netdocs and/or Neos a plus. 

Education and Experience: 

  • High School diploma or GED, Associate degree in legal studies or related field preferred. 
  • Some related legal office experience preferred.

The preference is a full-time position in the firm’s Lewes office. Comprehensive benefit package with full-time employment. Part-time candidates willing to work 25+ hours/week will be considered.
