A new report prepared by environmental experts, geologists, and engineers has found that PFAS contamination surrounding Perdue’s Salisbury plant in Wicomico County is impacting more homes and residents than initially believed. PFAS—known as “forever chemicals”—have been linked to cancers and other serious health conditions.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that people in that community — for the last two years, and even now — have been drinking contaminated water without knowing it,” BMF Partner Philip Federico told WBOC.
BMF filed a class-action lawsuit in 2024 on behalf of thousands of residents affected by PFAS contamination near Perdue’s Salisbury facility. The lawsuit seeks financial damages and full remediation of contaminated soil, groundwater, and surface waters. In August, a federal judge rejected Perdue’s motion to dismiss the case, allowing it to move forward.
