Benjamin Herskovitz is a litigator with a career-long commitment to protecting the public interest and advancing justice for vulnerable communities. At Brockstedt Mandalas Federico, Benjamin represents plaintiffs in complex mass torts and high-impact public litigation, including cases involving environmental contamination, childhood sexual abuse, and harmful corporate practices affecting public health and safety. His work includes advocating on behalf of individuals and public entities against companies that have caused widespread harm through negligent or predatory conduct.
Before joining the firm, Benjamin served as a staff attorney in the Office of General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. There, he advised program offices on complex regulatory and statutory matters, contributed to appellate litigation before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and played a key role in shaping national policy through legislative proposals and agency rulemaking.
Earlier in his career, Benjamin worked as a legal services attorney representing low-income individuals in housing, consumer protection, and public benefits matters. He maintained a high-volume litigation docket and represented clients in both court and administrative hearings. Over time, he developed expertise across multiple legal areas and delivered statewide trainings to fellow legal aid attorneys.
Benjamin began his post-law school career clerking for the Honorable Stephanie Gallagher of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class from The George Washington University Law School, where he was selected for the Order of the Coif and served as an associate member of the George Washington International Law Review.
