Cape Gazette covered the $4.2 million jury award Brockstedt Mandalas Federico secured for Leslie Gay Knapp Marini after a Superior Court jury of commissioners determined the state undervalued land acquired through eminent domain for the Minos Conaway Road project.
The Delaware Department of Transportation appraised the property at $2.279 million, while Marini’s team determined its value to be $4.238 million. Following trial, a Superior Court jury of commissioners awarded the full amount sought.
The property had been in Marini’s family for generations and was once part of Nassau Orchards, a longtime Lewes landmark.
Partner John Paradee, who led the team alongside Mark Denney and Joe Grubb, said: “Every inch of this case was hard-fought, but I am honored we could deliver for Ms. Marini.”
