Delaware News Journal reported on a Superior Court jury’s $4.2 million award to Lewes landowner Leslie Gay Knapp Marini. Led by Partner John Paradee, alongside Mark Denney and Joe Grubb, the litigation centered on an eminent domain dispute tied to Delaware Department of Transportation’s Route 1 and Minos Conaway Road interchange project.
The case stems from DelDOT’s August 2024 acquisition of property for the Minos Conaway Route 1 project. The taking included portions of land that were once part of Nassau Orchards, a historic family property near Lewes, Delaware that has deep roots in the community and generations of family history.
The jury of commissioners found the state’s valuation of the property undervalued and awarded the full amount sought by Marini.
