Experience
Chase Brockstedt is the lead partner of the firm’s Injury Litigation Department and co-chair of its Mass Tort and Class Action Practice. He has devoted his career to advocating for individuals who have been injured through no fault of their own, helping them pursue fair and meaningful compensation.
Chase brings extensive experience litigating some of the largest and most complex injury and environmental cases in Delaware and beyond. He is equally committed to representing individuals in smaller cases, believing deeply in equal access to justice. In his personal injury practice, Chase has developed a reputation for successfully navigating complex insurance issues—ensuring his clients’ medical expenses and lost wages are covered promptly while pursuing compensation for pain, suffering, and permanent injuries.
His litigation successes include a $13 million jury verdict in a nursing home negligence case in Sussex County, Delaware, as well as numerous million-dollar recoveries in motor vehicle, motorcycle, and trucking collision cases, premises liability matters, and workplace injury claims. Over the course of his career, Chase has helped thousands of Delaware residents reach fair and favorable resolutions in their cases.
Over the past two decades, Chase has built a nationally recognized mass tort and class action practice. Notable victories include:
- Serving as Co-Lead Counsel in an environmental contamination case against Mountaire Corporation, resulting in a $205 million class action settlement for property damage, remediation, and personal injuries.
- Acting as Class Counsel and Steering Committee member in the landmark Bradley/Beebe pediatric sex abuse class action, which settled for $123 million.
- Securing a $103 million settlement in an environmental pollution case involving a paper processing facility in South Carolina.
He is currently representing clients in environmental cases against W.L. Gore & Associates, Perdue Farms, and Camp LeJeune, and is involved in several national multi-district litigation matters, including Social Media, AFFF, JUUL, and RoundUp cases.
A Delaware native, Chase was born and raised in central and southern Delaware and graduated from Dover High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and his J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1999. During law school, he served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Richard S. Gebelein of the Delaware Superior Court, and after graduation, as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Richard R. Cooch of the Superior Court of New Castle County.
Chase is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, and the Delaware State Bar. He is an active member of the American Association for Justice, including its Motor Vehicle and Nursing Home Litigation sections. He is a past President and former Board of Governors member of the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association.
