Experience

Chase Brockstedt is the lead partner in the firm’s injury litigation department and is co-chair of the firm’s mass tort and class action practice.  He has dedicated his career to representing individuals who have been injured through no fault of their own and are seeking fair and reasonable compensation.

Chase has substantial experience successfully litigating some of the largest and most complex cases in and outside of Delaware.  However, Chase believes in equal access to justice and recognizes the importance of representing individuals who have been harmed in smaller cases as well.  In his personal injury practice, Chase has substantial experience navigating the complex world of insurance coverage to ensure that his client’s medical bills and lost wages are paid on time, and to recover monetary damages for pain, suffering, and permanent injuries.  Chase’s past successes include securing a $13 Million jury verdict in a Sussex County, Delaware nursing home case, and multiple million-dollar recoveries in injuries resulting from motor vehicle, motorcycle, and trucking collision cases, premises liability cases, and for workplace injuries.  Over the course of his career, he has successfully helped thousands of Delaware residents achieve a fair and reasonable resolution to their case.

Over the last two decades, Chase has developed a flourishing mass tort and class action practice.  His past successes include serving as Co-Lead Counsel in an environmental pollution case alleging groundwater and air contamination against the Mountaire Corporation that resulted in a $205 Million class action settlement for remediation, property damage, and personal injuries.  He also served as Class Counsel and a member of the Steering Committee in the landmark Bradley/Beebe pediatric sex abuse class action case that settled for $123 Million.  His most recent success is the resolution of an environmental pollution case against a paper processing facility in South Carolina for $103 Million for remediation, property damage, and personal injury damages.  Chase is also representing clients in environmental pollution cases against W.L Gore & Associates, Perdue Farms, and Camp LeJeune.  He is also involved in the Social Media, AFFF, JUUL, and RoundUp national multi-district cases.

Chase was born and raised in central and southern Delaware, graduated from Dover High School, and obtained an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He graduated from Widener University School of Law in 1999. While in law school, Mr. Brockstedt served as Judicial Extern to the Honorable Richard S. Gebelien of the Delaware Superior Court. He then served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Richard R. Cooch, Resident Judge for the Superior Court of New Castle County, for the 1999-2000 term.

Chase is admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States District Court for the District of Delaware and the Delaware State Bar Association.  He is an active member of The American Association of Justice, including membership in the motor vehicle and nursing home litigation sections. He is a former Board of Governor and past President of the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association. Chase also served on the Sussex Academy Foundation Board, is a former Board of Director of Kings Creek Country Club (serving as President from 2017-2020) and former board member of the Delaware State Golf Association.
