The “Lawyer of the Year” designation is awarded to a single lawyer in each practice area and metropolitan region, based on peer review feedback gathered through Best Lawyers’ exhaustive survey process.
John has built a reputation for handling complex land use and eminent domain matters, including a series of significant verdicts against the Delaware Department of Transportation over eminent domain property valuation disputes. In June 2026, he secured a $4 million verdict in DelDOT v. Knapp. The year before, he secured a $5 million verdict in a Route 1 and Route 16 eminent domain case, shaping how eminent domain cases are litigated across Delaware.
John was also recognized in the Land Use and Zoning Law category.
