Perdue AgriBusiness knew about toxic chemicals in its wastewater as early as August 2023 but didn’t inform residents in Salisbury until 2024. Our firm is representing over 400 residents in a class action lawsuit alleging that Perdue’s actions—and inaction—put their health and homes at risk.
Tests taken by the Maryland Department of the Environment on August 8, 2023, revealed high levels of PFAS—perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances—at Perdue’s Zion Church Road plant. Often called “forever chemicals,” PFAS have been linked to cancers, fertility issues, and other health concerns.
The class action, filed in October 2024, alleges that Perdue failed to warn residents in a timely manner, even as contamination spread into private wells used by families near the facility. Perdue has denied wrongdoing, and its second motion to dismiss the suit is still pending.
We will continue to work to hold Perdue accountable for the harm caused.
